1. Information We Collect

We collect only the information necessary to provide and improve the Sharenox platform. This falls into two categories:

Information you provide directly:

• Account registration: Name, email address, and password when you create an account.
• Profile data: Any optional information you add to your public profile (username, bio, trading style).
• Posts & activity: Content you post on the social feed, including text, stock tags, and trade badge data.
• Broker integration: If you connect Zerodha Kite, we receive an access token on your behalf. We do not store your broker credentials (username/password).
• Communications: If you contact us via email, we store your message to respond and improve.

Information collected automatically:

• Usage data: Pages visited, features used, time spent, and actions taken on the platform.
• Device & browser: Browser type, operating system, screen resolution, and language settings.
• IP address: Used for approximate geolocation (city/state level only) and security.
• Log data: Server logs including request timestamps, response codes, and error logs.

2. How We Use Your Data

We use your data solely to operate and improve Sharenox. Specifically:

• Create and manage your account and session
• Personalise your dashboard, watchlist, and feed
• Deliver AI-generated market insights and alerts
• Enable social features (posts, reactions, DMs) between registered users
• Execute orders via your connected broker when you explicitly initiate them
• Send transactional emails (account verification, password reset)
• Analyse aggregate usage patterns to improve the platform
• Detect fraud, abuse, or security incidents

3. Cookies & Analytics

We use cookies and similar technologies for the following purposes:

• Session cookies: Keep you logged in while you browse.
• Preference cookies: Remember your dashboard layout, theme, and selected instruments.
• Google Analytics (GA4): We use Google Analytics to understand aggregate user behaviour — pages visited, session length, feature usage. This data is anonymised and does not identify you personally.
• Google AdSense: Sharenox currently serves contextual ads via Google AdSense to support free access. Google may use cookies to serve relevant ads. You can opt out via Google Ad Settings.

You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Note that session cookies are required for login functionality — disabling them will prevent account access.

4. Data Sharing

We do not share your personal data with third parties except in these specific situations:

• Service providers: We use Render (hosting), MongoDB Atlas (database), and Netlify (frontend CDN). These providers process data on our behalf under contractual obligations and do not use your data for their own purposes.
• Broker APIs: When you connect Zerodha Kite, order data is shared with Zerodha as required to execute your instructions. Zerodha's privacy policy governs their use of that data.
• Legal obligations: We may disclose data if required by Indian law, court order, or a valid government request.
• Business transfer: If Sharenox is acquired or merged, user data may transfer to the successor entity. You will be notified.

Public posts, usernames, and profile information you choose to make public are visible to other Sharenox users and potentially indexed by search engines.

5. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on servers located in the United States (Render + MongoDB Atlas, AWS infrastructure). As an Indian user, this constitutes a cross-border data transfer.

• Passwords are hashed using bcrypt and never stored in plain text
• All data is transmitted over HTTPS/TLS encryption
• Broker access tokens are stored encrypted and scoped to your account only
• We conduct regular security reviews of our backend and API endpoints
• Database access is restricted to authenticated backend services only

Despite these measures, no system is 100% secure. If you suspect unauthorised access to your account, contact us immediately at admin@sharenox.com.

6. Your Rights DPDP 2023

Under India's Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, and as a general principle, you have the following rights:

• Access: Request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
• Correction: Ask us to correct inaccurate or incomplete data
• Deletion: Request deletion of your account and associated personal data
• Withdrawal of consent: Disconnect your broker integration or delete your account at any time
• Grievance redressal: Raise a complaint if you believe we've mishandled your data

7. Third-Party Services

Sharenox integrates with the following external services. Their data practices are governed by their own privacy policies:

• Zerodha Kite Connect — broker trading API (privacy policy)
• Google Analytics / AdSense — analytics and advertising (privacy policy)
• Groq AI — LLM inference for AI market summaries. Queries may include stock tickers and market context but never your personal account data
• NSE / BSE APIs — public market data feeds. No personal data is shared

Links to external sites are provided for convenience. Sharenox is not responsible for the content or privacy practices of those sites.

8. Children's Privacy

Sharenox is a financial information platform intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal data from individuals under the age of 18. If you believe a minor has created an account, please contact us and we will delete the account promptly.

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. When we make material changes, we will:

• Update the "Effective" date at the top of this page
• Display a notice on the Sharenox homepage for at least 7 days
• Send an email notification to registered users for significant changes

Continued use of Sharenox after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
